Periodontal tooth loss and dental implants – Ken Hemmings
Welcome Harjot
I would like to welcome Harjot Bansal to work with me from January 2023.
He has been recently recognised as a Specialist in Prosthodontics. His summary biography is shown [here].I am sure he will be an asset to my team.
Unfortunately, Mr Amardip Kalsi will be leaving the practice to devote time to looking after his very young daughter who will be having a bone marrow transplant for immunodeficiency.
Introducing Amardip Kalsi
Dear Colleague,
I have been very conscious of the fact that, over the past months, waiting times for your patients to be seen and treated by me have been longer than I would have wished. This has been due to an increase in referrals over the pandemic and a small reduction in my availability. I am, however, delighted to be able to inform you that Amardip Kalsi will be joining the service for a day per week in the first instance from November 2021. I will, of course, be remaining at the practice, but will be reducing my days from three to two per week once Amardip starts. We should then be able to be getting back to providing a far more prompt service for you and your referred patients.
I can provide no better introduction to Amardip than to quote from his CV:
Amardip Kalsi
BSc (Hons) BDS (Hons) MJDF RCS Eng MFDS RCSEd MSc MPerio FDSRCS
Consultant in Restorative Dentistry Cambridge University Hospitals
Specialist in Restorative Dentistry & Periodontics
Amardip graduated with honours from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2010. Before this he had gained a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sheffield. He completed his vocational training in Wokingham, during which he was awarded the British Endodontic Society Prize for Vocational Dental Practitioners and the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry New Graduate Prize.
Following this he undertook three years of Senior House Officer positions in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Restorative Dentistry and General Dentistry at the John Radcliffe, Royal Berkshire, Royal London and Eastman Dental Hospitals. During this time, he completed his Membership Examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England.
After some time in practice in Chessington, he returned to the Eastman Dental Hospital to complete a 5-year full time Speciality Registrar Training post in Restorative Dentistry in order to work as a Hospital Consultant. He has gained specialist level training in Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics. During this time he also completed a Masters in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute, part of University College London. He spent time working in private Specialist practice in Surrey. He is now working as Consultant & Lead in Restorative Dentistry at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also the lead for adult restorative dentistry for cleft lip and palate patients in the East of England.
He is a General Dental Council registered Specialist in both Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics. He is trained to deal with the most complex of cases spanning a variety of disciplines including gum treatment, replacing and restoring teeth, root canal treatment and dental implant treatment.
Amardip has published over twelve scientific research papers, has presented his work at international conferences and is a former council member of the British Society for Restorative Dentistry with experience in medico-legal work.
In his free time Amardip enjoys five-a-side football, mountain biking, making music and gardening.
I was pleased to be involved in his training at the Eastman Dental Hospital and know that he will get on well with you and your patients. With such a talented and well esteemed colleague joining the practice, I am confident that the standards will not merely be maintained, but enhanced.
Amardip and I look forward to being able to continue to provide our referral service for you to the very best of our ability.
With kind regards
Yours sincerely,
Ken Hemmings
